It has always been said that war is hell, calling it a conflict does not make it better.
When young men die in the line of duty, calling it a mistake does not make it all right.
Those who left our country in protest of the Vietnam War received a Presidential Pardon
and were allowed to come home…. Forgiven.
Those who stepped forward to fulfill their duty never received the celebration or the respect they deserved.
Instead, When Vietnam veterans came home from an unpopular War then quickly learned to be silent.
They did their best to silently cope with the loss of their friends and justify why so many young men had to die.
They did their best to get on with their life and try to put the war behind them…. A painful silence.
Today and every March 29th we want to honor you.
You are the proud: you are the brave,
you are the reason we live in a country that is free.
Thank you for risking your life for our freedom.
